Animals E+ Project. 2nd Grade
This year, we have enjoyed the Animals unit in a different way. All the students in 2nd Grade have worked together in a common project to develop one of our Erasmus+ objectives underlined in our project.
They have searched information about the animals habitat, their feeding, their body parts, animal classification, etc.
To finish the Animas unit, all the students have participated in a very motivating game about animals. They formed three groups: animals that live in water, animals that live on land, and animals that can fly.
They have done a search work looking in books and onthe internet for information and pictures of animals in each group. After that, they printed or drew the picture of each animal. After that, they sticked one picture on each card.
On the back of each card they wrote the answer to these questions:
- What is its name?
- Is it vertebrate of invertebrate?
- Does it have 0, 2, 4 or more legs?
- Is it a wild animal, a farm animal of a pet?
- Does it live in water or on land?
- Does it fly, swim, walk of jump?
- Does it have a shell, hair, feathers, scales or just skin?
- Is it a hervibore, a carnivore or an omivore?
- Is it viviparous or oviparous?
After that, they played the Guess the animal game with a friend or with our Language Assistant Amy. Each student had to choose a card and answer to all the questions in English.
Children had a great time playing with their own cards and it was a very motivating activity for all of them.

2nd Grade: Me on the map project
All 2nd Grade classes participated in this Social Sciences project.
We were in the middle of our map unit, as part of our Europe Day week activities. The students have a really hard time remembering which is the city, state, country, etc.
That´s why we decided to make this visual project that might help them to remember better.
First, we found our school on Google Earth, and slowly zoomed out.
Our language assistant, Amy, helped us to find and pronounce some European countries playing an easy game.

LANGUAGE AND CULTURE BY AMPARO HERRADOR
In this section of the blog we are going to publish the activities that we do every month integrating the different subjects such as English, Science, History, Music, Physical Education (CLIL), and the different cultural aspects of the British Culture.
This section also includes the activities that we do with the European “eTwinning” project. This is an ongoing project in which the students at Gloria Fuertes have been exchanging letters and cards with pen-pals in Wick Primary School in Bristol, England throughout the last five years. The cards and letters usually include talking the students talking a little about themselves, their families, their schools, and their cultures as well as talking a little about what materials or topics they are working on in school at that time.
In this section we can also see the weekly reflections that deal with famous saying or quotations that we can see in the entrance hall in both English and Spanish so that the school community can practice and understand the reflections in both languages. The reflections are related to the school projects, such as peace or equality.
